Shalom, beloved of the Lord!

Did you know that your identity in God has an assignment attached to it? For instance, when God changes a name, He changes one’s identity for the purpose of redefining one’s calling. A few examples: Abram’s name was changed to Abraham; exalted father to the father of many nations. Sarai was changed to Sarah; princess, to the mother of many nations and of course there is Jacob. His identity was changed from deceiver to Israel; the one that prevails. In the New Covenant (Testament), Yeshua renamed Simon to Peter; the rock that His church would be built upon. These examples illustrate how God created us with an identity that is connected to our holy calling.

The same concept can be applied to the One New Man, Jewish and Gentile believers. (Ephesians 2:15) Collectively, our identity is connected to our corporate assignment. Yet what is so unique about our identity is that it does not diminish our individual distinctions or identities but fosters mutual blessings and fulfillment of our shared assignment. Just like the union in a marriage. For a deeper illustration of this concept, see my previous post. (Click here)

Today I would like to talk about our distinctions that contribute mutual blessings that also fulfills our corporate assignment. Let’s begin with the nation of Israel, the origin of the Jewish believers. According to Paul, they contributed to the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came. (Romans 9:4,5)

Jewish believers support and nurture Gentile believers in their spiritual Jewish DNA, continuing to build upon the heritage and foundations contributed by our ancestors. In addition, we provide prophetic insight that points to our Jewish Messiah through the expression of our faith that include the feasts, Shabbat and much more! In the early church, both groups of people broke bread and practiced these very things. Together, we have a partnership and a shared family status in the faith (Romans 11:11-18) And within that status is a Jewish expression. Unfortunately, the church divorced itself from its Jewish expression that began with the church fathers in the fourth century. After all these years this issue is still present, yet God is waking up many who are answering the call and are willing to see and embrace their Jewish brethren along with the roots of their faith! Thank the Lord!

Now, let’s examine the Gentile contributions. In Romans 11, Paul addressed the Gentile brethren saying that it would be through them Israel will be provoked. The same mercy that they received in their disobedience, God wants the same mercy shown to the Jews in their disobedience. (Romans 11:30-31)

Your calling as a Gentile believer is of great importance!  Did you know most Jews are saved through the hands of a Gentile? I was, and am so grateful! To provoke Israel, you must be willing to demonstrate the mercy and love of God and take the Gospel to them. Supporting them financially is not enough! You can bless someone financially and that person can still go to hell. It is important to note that both Jesus and Paul prioritized their ministry by first reaching out to the Jews, and then extending their message to the Gentiles. (Matthew 10, 15; Romans 1:16). This was a pattern that they both practiced.

As Gentiles that are grafted into the Jewish root, your contribution is also vitally important to your Jewish counterparts (Jewish believers). You must encourage your Jewish brothers and sisters to continue with their Jewish expression. For many years we were forced to lay down and compromise our identity to be part of the church. Today, that same anti-Christ and antisemitic spirit is still in the church as we are still being told when you come to Christ you are no longer Jewish.

We need your encouragement, your fellowship and your blessing. Without your support, the  ONM is incomplete. This means that until we walk in our full identity as the ONM, our corporate assignment will not be fulfilled. Remember our assignment is attached to our identity. Now that we’ve established the importance of mutual blessing within our corporate identity, what is our corporate assignment?

To be the answer to Jesus’s High Priestly prayer (see here) and fulfill the great commission. This includes provoking the natural branches (Israel), so that the blinders will fall off, that they will see with their eyes, hear with their ears, turn and repent! Their redemption will graft them back into their own root and will spark worldwide revival and His return! This is the end time goal of our assignment as the One New Man. (Matthew 23:39, Romans 11:15, 26,27)

Until next time beloved, may the Lord bless and keep you and make His face shine upon you and give you complete Shalom!
