Shalom, shalom beloved! I wanted to share a few thoughts about a matter that holds great importance in the heart of the Father. It’s a matter that you rarely hear addressed within the church. It matters much to God because Jesus died for it. It matters because His end time plan depends on it. I am referring to the One New Man (ONM). Some of you may have never heard of the (ONM). To be honest, for a long time I never heard of the (ONM). Until one day, I kept hearing the Lord say, “a culmination of the two,” repeatedly. Then He highlighted a scripture that I did not see in previous readings. It is found in Ephesians 2:14-15:

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself ONE NEW MAN from the two, thus making peace..”
I wondered about the two because we know as the Body we are all one. So, who are the two and why the distinction? I decided to go back a few passages to get the correct context then the light came on. Paul was addressing the Gentiles regarding their relationship with their Jewish brethren. (see vs 11-16). The ONM, a revelation coined by Paul, was applied to both Jewish and Gentile believers. This relationship is founded through the Body of Yeshua, whose death on the cross abolished the wall of separation between the two, thus making us one! So, why would Paul then make a distinction? As a matter of fact, this was not the only passage where distinctions were addressed.
Jesus also addressed their distinction and their calling in His High Priestly prayer. We touched on this in my previous post (click here). Before we can discuss a little more in detail the assignment/calling of the ONM, our distinctions or identities must be clarified because its attached to our assignment. Let’s look a little more into Ephesians 2:11:
“Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hand…”
We see that Paul termed the Gentiles as uncircumcision and the Jews circumcision. Two distinctions, two identities. Here are a few more scriptures for your personal study of the distinctions: Romans 1:16, 2:9,10, Acts 15:29, 1 Corinthians 7:17-20. So if there are two distinctions, how then are we one? Great question. Let’s start here:
Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
In my experience, I have observed many people in the church misapply this scripture. They believe Paul is talking about identity. If this is the case, then we have gender confusion just like the world. If this was the case then my husband loses his identity as a man and me a woman. And guaranteed he would not like that! I wouldn’t either! So what was Paul was talking about? Salvific value! Anyone who comes to and through Christ is one with Him! It doesn’t matter where you’re from and who you’re from. When you give your life to Him, you become one with Him. You don’t lost your identity. Yeshua didn’t.
Now let’s get to our answer about distinction. As I stated earlier, my husband would have a problem if I lost my femininity, and I would feel the same about his manhood. And according to God, we are one! As I bless him as his wife and all that comes with that calling, he too blesses me as my husband and all that comes with his calling. The distinctions within the oneness of our relationship brings mutual blessing! Distinctions are essential to fulfilling the roles within the relationship because they define how the two operate together as one.
Here’s one more example of distinctions from the Godhead: We have God the Father that is Creator of all the universe, then there’s the Son who offered His Body for our sins, then there’s the precious Holy Spirit, the power of God and so much more! Each one has a calling, an identity, a distinction, yet they are one. It is from that oneness, where the glory and power abides that produces fruit in the now and in the eternal!
Now that we have established the question of distinctions, in my next post we will touch on the value and blessing of what each distinction brings, thus establishing our end time assignment as the One New Man.
Until next time beloved, may the Lord bless and keep you and make His face shine upon you and give you complete Shalom!
