Hello friends! My apologies. This is the updated version of my original post earlier today. For a long time now, I have wanted to write a blog on our identity within the One New Man, that is in Messiah. With the great awakening that the Lord is bringing to the Body of Christ, regarding One New Man and our Jewish Roots, it’s imperative, that we keep our place of identity in who we are in Him and with one another. Meaning, as we come into this wonderful restoration of our love for our Jewish brothers and the joy of the celebration of the feasts, I am finding that there are Non-Jews wanting to become Jews ( This does not include non-jews, that have found out by revelation or direction from the Lord, that they were Jews all along), and Messianic Jews, feeling displaced within the Body. I can say, as a Jewish believer, that for many years, I have felt like I had been the one grafted in, verses the other way around. When I got saved, I became a Christian. That meant in my eyes, not only would I go to church and read the bible, but I can wear a cross around my neck, I can celebrate Christmas, and do all the outward works to use as my new identity. Although I knew I was still Jewish, I didn’t have anyone to tell me I can still stay Jewish and celebrate my inheritance as a Jew through Messiah. When I read in the Bible where it says that Jesus fulfilled all, in my lack of understanding, I thought since He came to fulfill all, then I don’t need to celebrate Shabbat, or I don’t have to celebrate the Jewish holidays as I did growing up. It made perfect sense to me being that He was the fulfillment of the shadow of things that were to come. But as I began to grow up in the Lord, and as I read the whole Bible, my understanding began to grow more and more, as well as my identity in Him.
God began to peel back layers of confusion, and distortion, until I started to see correctly. I received the revelation that Jesus is not only Jewish, and His church began with Jewish disciples, but they all still celebrated their Jewishness by celebrating the feasts, the Sabbaths, and even kept their Jewish names. They didn’t go by the Greek names, as it has been translated and printed over the years, but their Jewish names. Now, when I look at this word “fulfilled”, it takes on a whole new meaning to me. It is clear to me now, that Yeshua came to fulfill the true purpose of the shadow of those things. He completed it! He didn’t complete it meaning finishing it, in the sense that you and I know the word finish. He removed all the legalism with man’s rules, and fulfilled the true purpose of it. I love what the NLT says in Matthew 5:17-18, “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.” A great example of Yeshua being the fulfillment: He is Lord of the Sabbath! He is the rest of God, and it’s through him we can enter into that rest. We can now celebrate each Sabbath together as we worship Him for all of His goodness and all that He has done for us, with joy and lots of feasting! Jews love to feast by the way! Can non-jewish believers celebrate these feasts or sabbaths too? Yes, definitely! They did in the early church. Remember the Sabbath was created before Israel was a people. It was created at the beginning in Genesis for all mankind. What about the feasts? The feasts are appointed times for God to meet with us. He wants all of us to meet with Him together and to celebrate. These were lasting ordinances that God made. And even back in the OT, strangers (gentiles) were allowed to participate in those feasts as long as they too became circumcised and followed the ways of God! (Deut 29:10-12, Ex 12:48,49, Num 9:14)
All my life I ran from who I was as a Jew, and now, in this season of restoration, I am being brought back to my true identity. And with that, I know my place! I didn’t have to lose who I was, or who I was born as, when I came to Christ. None of us had to. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 7:17 -20, “But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. So wherever you were called from, whoever you are, stay in that! God has made you fearfully and wonderfully unique individuals!
You may be asking, what about our calling together as One New Man? How do we walk this out together? Good question. Here are two types of relationships that can help us identify with who we are in our place corporately, while keeping our individuality: a marriage: We are one, yet both of us have different functions as husband and wife. The second one: The Trinity. All three are one, yet they have different functions, but the same goal. We can still be our authentic selves yet work as a unit. We have a unique nature in One New Man. We are a one new humanity! Paul also calls it the “fellowship of the mystery” which from the beginning of the world has been hidden in God, and has now been revealed to the principalities and powers, through us His church, who is also the manifold wisdom of God. Weheww! What a place we have in Him! We are His manifold wisdom! (See Eph 3:9-10) Like I stated a few blogs ago, the Bible says that Yeshua was a mystery that was revealed, and if the enemy knew what was about to happen on that Cross, he never would have crucified the Lord of glory. We too, have been a hidden mystery, now revealed, and as we sit together in our places in Him. We too shake the very gates of hell and enforce what Jesus has already done by spoiling satan, stripping him and triumphing over him. Can I get an amen!! That’s why brothers and sisters, know who you are, and know your place!!! There is an authority we carry when we are in our place! And with that combined authority….BAM SHAZAM!
We all have different callings. We all are individual members. Let’s not try to become, who we are not. He never asked us to become somebody else for Him to be glorified, and He even exhorts us not to compare ourselves to one another. All He asks of us, is to receive the grace from where we were called from. To come out from religious works and traditions and old mind sets, and receive the grace that is only through the only One and True Messiah, Yeshua Jesus! He loves us and made each and every one of us masterfully. So, no pressures to become like one another. Only to become like Him. Amen?
As a side note, let me say that Israel still has their call to be the light to the nations and a priesthood. See Romans 11:28-29 that says the gifts and callings are without repentance. So let’s not think they have lost that calling as a nation. But when they come into Messiah, they, along with us, Jew and non-jewish believers, can walk in the fullness of the calling from which He called us, amen!!
In closing, If we all tried to be the same, then there would be no One New Man. Remember, the purpose of One New Man, is that the world may recognize Yeshua through us….Jew and Gentile believers. (John 17:20-24) We are a marriage made in Heaven in Him! So if we are seated in heavenly places together in Him, we must also be in our places together here on earth. Amen!
If you have a few extra moments, I wanted to encourage you to watch the video below from Daniel Juster, a messianic International speaker. He speaks on this very thing about our identity. It will be a blessing to you! God bless you and please invite others to the blog if you think it would be a blessing to them. Shalom and Shalom!
