Beloved, through the Body of our Jewish Messiah on the cross, His death and resurrection has given us many benefits as believers, to receive all that He died for us to have. To name a few, let’s start with the most important benefit: Salvation! And not only salvation from a living hell, but it’s through that same salvation we have healing for our bodies, our souls , and emotions. Deliverance from a life of oppression, to a life of joy unspeakable! Though he was rich, yet for our sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. The old us has passed away, and behold, we have become new in Him! A whole new man or woman! Thank you Lord for our benefits in Messiah!
But where we have neglected a part of this great salvation, or the knowledge of this salvation, is within the revealed mystery of the One New Man. It is because of this mystery, that our Lord and Savior also died on the Cross, that we can become His One New Man, the reconciled church. John said in Chp. 17:20-23, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” It is through us, Jewish and Non-Jewish believers, the One New Man, that the world will recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior! What a great calling we have in representing Him and releasing salvation through His Name!
You may be asking, how is One New Man part of the message of the Cross? Let’s look at Ephesians 2:14-16, “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.”
It was through His Body, that all the hostility, and the ordinances that were previously put into place, were nullified. And through His Body on the cross, the two that were in opposition to one another, are now made one in Him. Peace with Him, peace with one another. We are the One new man, meaning one new humanity in Him! No more middle wall of separation, no more fence line between the two. Glory to God!
We also have neglected so great a salvation in not preaching this message that Paul preached in Ephesians 2, as well as revealing to the Non-Jewish believers, that they now are part of the same body. That is, they too can experience and receive the promises, as part of the household of God. Ephesians 3:3-6, “how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already,by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,” Praise the Lord!
But now, for such a time as this, God is awakening this message to us, the message of One New Man, that not only brings the reconciliation of both Jewish and Non-Jewish believers together in Him, but also it is the demonstration of the power of the cross that brings salvation first to the Jew, and to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16). Together, we are the love and compassion of Jesus to the world. And Jesus has left it up to us, to provoke the Jews back to their Jewish Messiah, (Romans 11:11), and to the nations in awakening them to their inheritance into the same Jewish Messiah, so we all may become one, as He and the Father is one. One big happy family!
So, to wrap this up, I want to give you the Passion translation of Ephesians 2:14-16. I believe it will bless you and help you to see this beautiful part of salvation that Jesus died for all of us to have: to love one another and be one, even as He and the Father are one:
“Our reconciling Peace is Jesus! He has made Jew and Non-Jew, one in Christ. By dying as our sacrifice, He has broken down every wall of prejudice that separated us, and has now made us equal through our union with Christ. Ethnic hatred has been dissolved by the crucifixion of His precious body on the cross. The legal code that stood condemning every one of us has now been repealed by His command. His triune essence has made peace between us by starting over – forming one new man, Jews and Non-Jews fused together! Two have now become one, and we live restored to God and reconciled in the body of Christ. Through His crucifixion, hatred died. For the Messiah has come to preach this sweet message of peace to you, the ones who were distant, and to those who are near. And now, because we are united to Christ and to each other, we both have equal and direct access in the realm of the Holy Spirit to come before the Father!!
So now that we have come into this revelation of the Cross, what do we do with it? We first need to turn to our own hearts and and ask God if we need to repent of any area concerning our Jewish brothers and sisters in the Lord. We also need to pray, that the Body of Christ will come into this knowledge of One New Man. We also enforce the broken wall of separation, by coming against every anti- semitic spirit working in the church and even in the world. God may lead you in how else to pray in this area. The more we recognize who we are to one another, the more we can move as the army of the Lord, that God intended us to be. The One New Man!
