Have you ever questioned, or have heard anyone ask, is salvation for the Jews? Or have you heard it said they don’t need salvation, because they have an automatic ticket to heaven? Many of us today in the Body of Christ, have not come into the complete understanding of God’s plan for the Jews and their salvation. Let’s look at what the Bible says about this divine plan.
Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jews first, and also to the Greek.”
Here, we see an order or pattern from God, that the gospel goes to the Jews first. Jesus did say that He came for the lost sheep of Israel, (Matthew 15:24), and that was His assignment. Yet He also said that I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. (John 10:16).
Now some may think, that through this scripture, God loves the Jews more than the Gentiles. Not true. God is not a respecter of persons. In Acts 10:34-35, Peter opened his mouth, and said, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
Some may even ask, then what is the difference between the two? Well the Bible says in Galatians 3:28, ” There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.“ So we see here, that there is no difference as far as where we come from, or our heritage, concerning our salvation, and that in Christ we are one!
However, there is still an order of God that He has established. Let’s break this down a little, so we can understand about God’s divine order and plan. The first order was set in place when God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12:2 and said, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” This covenant promise was not only to Abraham himself, but also to his seed, Israel. And as it says, we are supposed to bless them, not curse them. And God will bless us for following that pattern. Then God spoke to Israel that they would be a kingdom of priests, and a light to the Gentiles (See Exodus 19:5-6, Isaiah 60). And from them, came the Jewish Messiah (Romans 9:5) that not only came to deliver and save them, but He also came to deliver and save the world. (John 3:16).
They are a first fruit, an example, and a forerunner for God. The only difference is, is that we give honor and place to Israel as our big brother, or as the bible says, Israel is the mother of us all (Gal 4:6). We give honor to whom honor is due as the Bible says. Just as Jesus became our first fruit (1 Cor 15:20), and we give Him His place as Lord, Savior, and big brother to us, so it is with Israel. They paved the way for us just like Jesus did. From them came the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law (teachings), the service of God, the promises, whose are the Fathers from which Christ came. (See Romans 9:4,5). So no matter what, we need to follow God’s order and give Israel their place of honor. Even if some of them are not in their rightful place in Christ as of yet, we are still commissioned to pray for them. Don’t you know that they were broken off as branches so that the Gentiles would be grafted in? (Romans 11:19-22). Wow! What a sacrifice!
Paul said in Romans 11:11, “have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.” So, as Body of believers, whether Jewish or Non-Jewish, God expects us to give them honor by praying for them, and to provoke them to jealousy. How do we provoke them? Two major ways: when they see how familiar or passionate we are with the Tanakh (Old Testament), and the love that we have for their Torah because it’s written on our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The second and most important, is when they see us in love with the Father, and the fellowship that we have with Him. What they will see is RELATIONSHIP!
Being a Jew myself, I can tell you, that as I grew up, my perception of God, was that He was untouchable, and an unreachable distant entity, that gets angry all the time. The difference with us in Yeshua, is that we have a relationship with Him, not a religious experience with Him. Big difference! So, God expects us, to now be that example to them, to provoke them in wanting that relationship with Abba Father. But now it’s time, as the Church, to show them, that they can actually have a relationship with the One who created all Heaven and Earth. Amen?
“Just as you, (Non-Jewish believers), were once disobedient and rebellious towards God, but now have obtained His mercy through their (the Jews) disobedience , so they also now are being disobedient, when you are receiving mercy, that they in turn may one day, through the mercy you are enjoying, also receive mercy, that they may share the mercy, which has been shown to you – THROUGH YOU, as messengers of the Gospel TO THEM!” Romans 11:30-31
Amen! It is THROUGH US, THE BODY OF CHRIST, that God will use to show His love and mercy to the Jews! What an assignment!
Romans 10:1, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.”
Romans 9:1-3, “I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh.….who is Paul talking about? V4…the Israelites.
Paul said that he wished he was accursed from Christ for his brethren the Jews. Wow! He was willing to pay the price to go to hell for his brothers, that he might save them. Thank God for Yeshua that He paid that price, amen? This scripture reveals to us the very truth, that the Jews need the prayer of salvation. How can God use us as the One New Man, the church, if we don’t call the Jews in? The church is supposed to be made up of the two, Jew and Gentile. It started with the Jewish disciples, so now it must go back to the Jews. We are coming full circle in these last days. And as the Body of Christ, specifically the Non-Jewish believers that have enjoyed and inherited all the promises and benefits off of the price the Jews paid for, I think it is only right and a righteous thing before God that we now pray them back in to their own tree. Amen?
So let’s stand in agreement together, and pray, “Abba Father, in the Name of Yeshua, we pray for our Jewish brothers and sisters. We call them forth from the Kingdom of darkness, into the Kingdom of your dear Son. We call them to rise up from their dry bones, and ask that you would breathe your Holy Spirit upon them, that they may arise and be the army that you called them to be. We say that because salvation came from them, we now say it goes back to them, and we call each and everyone one of them into their Jewish Messiah, Yeshua Hamashiach, and to take their place into the One New Man that is in Him. In Yeshua’s name, Amen!
